AVG Free for antivirus

ZoneAlarm (basic version) for firewall

Some newer computers come with hardware firewalls built right into the motherboard now, so if you count those, I'd go with NVIDIA Firewall as the hands down best anywhere... But you need a computer with an nForce4 or better motherboard.

ZoneAlarm and Kerio are the best personal firewalls. AVG is the best antivirus.

Windows Firewall is CRAP!!! I don't know how many times I have to say it. If a firewall can't block outgoing connections, the most important function of a firewall, then what good is it?

Firewall : Zone Alarm

I have been using these for over 4 years and I find they are extremely effective.

Zone Alarm is by far the best free firewall. It's pro version is the best firewall period. AVG is the hands down best free anti-virus program.
